How does a Planner differ from a hands-on catering manager/venue director/florist, etc?
Other vendors work for their respective companies making certain their form of service is outstanding. A Planner will work with you on all aspects and every area of your wedding day to make sure EVERYTHING is perfect. All have very different roles, but the Planner works with all the vendors closely making certain that your special day is planned to the last detail of how you exactly what it.
A Planner works with you on all the details outside the walls of your venue. All other vendors work within their walls and/or area of expertise.
A Planner can assist in selecting vendors that match both your budget and your visions.
A Planner can negotiate contracts and plan events/activities surrounding the wedding weekend. Most other vendors have multiple events they are juggling and unable to assist with these types of events, and they do not negotiate contracts with other vendors.
A Planner will meet and talk with all your vendors regarding details, plans and the layout of your wedding. Other vendors are merely coordinating a timeline of your wedding day and do not have/take the time to meet with the other vendors you have hired.
